Wrestling and Grappling, or as it can be called in a historical context Ringen (German sources) or Abrazare (Italian Sources), are an integral part of Historical combat. And there are many great books and articles that you can find to support this idea. So in that spirit, we spoke with Tim Hall of CKDF and Douglas Perritt of VAF all about Ringen.

Tim Hall is with CKDF and a cofounder of the US Historical Ringen Association. Tim is also a certified personal fitness trainer. Tim is a great Ringen teacher, and competitor. You can find information about CKDF at https://www.capitalkdf.org/. And you can find more information about the US HRA at https://usringen.org/ or on their Facebook Page

Douglas Perritt is with the Virginia Academy of Fencing, and organizer of the Midatlantic Ringen Symposium (MARS) and the Atlantic Ringen Exposition and Symposium (ARES). You can find more information about VAF at http://www.vafinc.com/ You can find last years events on Facebook MARS 2017 and ARES 2017, and I'm sure this years events will be announced soon.

To add some more community involvement, I'd like to have our listeners record themselves reading the opening and/or closing script to be included in the episode. If you'd like send me a recording of either the opening or closing script, e-mail me at HEMAPodcast@gmail.com with an audio file.
