HEMA stands for Historical European Martial Arts and is an activity practiced by thousands across the country and around the world. The HEMA-Cast is a podcast focused on the topics and events important to the HEMA community. By going to events and interviewing members of HEMA, we get to exchange ideas and get to know the HEMA community at large.

We're finishing up Study in Steel 2018 and a one off interview from Give a Girl a Sword, hosted by Men at Arms Martial Arts.

James Reed is the founder and Lead Instructor of Men at Arms Martial Arts in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. There they are having four tournaments and over a dozen workshops as part of the Longpoint Historical Fencing League. Give a Girl a Sword is an initiative started by Esfinges to encourage events intended to make it easier and more welcoming for women to join and get involved in HEMA. The Esfinges (The Sphinxes) was born out of a need to assist women wanting to begin study of these arts so they can start practicing Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) and to bring female practitioners HEMA together.
